16th December 2009 : The German Red Cross (GRC) donated a consignment of equipment needed to improve the Volunteer Non-Remunerated Blood Donor Recruitment Programme of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.(SLRCS).
The consignment, comprising 40 folding beds 150 folding chairs 20 tables and 20 scales worth Rupees six hundred thousand, was handed over to National Secretary of the SLRCS S.H.Nimal Kumar by Programme Delegate of GRC Conny Haeusler at Red Cross Head Quarters in Colombo on 16 th of December.
The equipment will be distributed to Sri Lanka Red Cross branches in Ampara, Trincomalee, Colombo and Colombo City, Galle, Matara, Matale, Nuwaraeliya, Gampaha and Polonnaruwa to enhance their capacity in organizing blood donor camps.
SLRCS branches regularly organize blood donor recruitment camps to facilitate the Government Blood Bank in respective area to collect much needed blood.
