Below are details of how events across Sri Lanka were marked in view of World Red Cross Red Crescent Day 2017
The Gampaha Branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society held a volunteer appreciation programme led by its Chairman Anton Victoria. Nearly 28 volunteers were awarded with certificates and medals for their immense contribution as volunteers for the last 30 years. Their service was recognized under the ‘Best Volunteer’ category.
New volunteers who had shown commitment to accomplish the humanitarian activities of the branch were also appreciated at the programme by awarding volunteers appreciation certificates.
The programme held with the participation more than 160 volunteers who had contributed to the success of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Gampaha Branch in accomplishing its humanitarian services for the most vulnerable and needy communities in the District of Gampaha.
Meanwhile the Vavuniya Branch of the SLRCS an awareness and flag campaign was conducted by the branch and its volunteers.
SLRCS – Kandy Branch commemorate World Red Cross Day 2017 in Gampola Division. The activity include cleaning elderly home and donate some dry rations.
