06/02/2016 – Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Colombo Branch recently donated an ambulance to the Kilinochchi branch in view to carry out much needed first aid and other services aiding them to enhance their income generation projects through commercial first aid.

The handing over was made by the Chairman and National President of SLRCS Jagath Abeysinghe to the Vice Chairman of the Kilinochchi Branch Mr. S. Sivagurunathan at the NHQ in Colombo.

This requirement was identified during a recent visit by the President to Northern Branches. During the visit the President witnessed the importance of aiding branches that are trying to develop their capacity. One of the areas that is been focused by the Kilinochchi branch is to provide commercial first aid. Accordingly steps were taken to find support internally, where the Colombo branch opted to support by providing this ambulance.

“Resource mobilization is one of the key areas that we are hoping to focus in this year” says President Abeysinghe. “We are looking as to how we are doing better and how that experience can support the areas where we need to do better”
