Promoting social cohesion among students

07/07/2015 – Kandy, Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society recently organized a social cohesion programme where students from various district meets to have a fellowship and to share ideas and build better relations.

The event took place at the Kandy Branch of Sri Lanka Red Cross where over 25 students from Kegalle and Batticaloa took part in this programme. Students from Ambulugala Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle, Balawatgama  Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle  and Palchenai Government Tamil Mixed School, Batticaloa took part in the event.

The main objective of this programme was to promote and establish Social Integration, to provide multi-cultural exposure to students, to offer the opportunities of recreational engagements for School children to exhibit their diverse talents, to enhance the inter-cultural interactions among students and to carry out Red Cross dissemination activities in an innovative manner.

During activities students taking part got an opportunity to engage with students from other districts, to interact, to share ideas and to understand what the Red Cross message is.

This programme is conducted with students from other parts of the island as well.
