The Chinese Red Cross Society, as a part of their Galle-Dadella Tsunami Housing Project, has agreed to setup a center with, Training Facilities, space for RC Branch Office, Health Facilities etc for the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society. The 4-storied building complex to be funded by the CRCS is estimated to cost around US$ 200,000.
The land to be purchased at Dadella, on the main Colombo-Galle Road is estimated to cost around US$ 100,000. The ground floor of the building will have Restaurant cum Shop space, for the sustainability of the project.
On 1st August 2006 at 3.30 pm, in the presence of Mr.Lan Jun, Mr.Xiaoming Dai and Ms.Wang Lulu, officials from the Chinese Red Cross Society, His Excellency Sun Guoxiang the Ambassador for the People's Republic of China handed over a cheque for US$ 100,000 to the Hony. President of the SLRCS Mr. Jagath Abeysinghe, for the purchase of the land.
The project involves construct 150 houses for tsunami effected including shoping arcade and a district office for Sri Lanka Red Cross Society cum training centre
