The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society successfully conducted a series of Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening meaningful engagement with communities. The initiative included a Training of Trainers (ToT) followed by two day refresher trainings, bringing together volunteers from branches across Sri Lanka involved in community outreach.

The sessions focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of CEA principles, including transparent communication, community participation, feedback mechanisms, and accountability to affected populations. Through interactive group discussions, role-plays, and practical exercises, participants explored real-world scenarios and strengthened their skills in listening to community concerns, facilitating dialogue, and ensuring that programmes remain responsive to community needs.

These trainings helped reinforce a collaborative approach within the organization, equipping participants with practical tools to improve trust, teamwork, and community-centered programme implementation.
