Supporting Recovery in Trincomalee: Sri Lanka Red Cross Provides Cash Grants to 1,600 Families and Conducts Post Distribution Monitoring

Posted on Thursday, March 12th, 2026

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) has provided unconditional cash grants to 1,600 families affected by the floods caused by Cyclone Ditwah in the Trincomalee District, supporting vulnerable households to address their most urgent needs. The cash assistance allowed affected families the flexibility to prioritize essential expenses such as food, household items, and other immediate recovery requirements, helping them regain stability following the disaster.

Following the distribution, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society conducted Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to ensure the assistance reached the intended beneficiaries effectively and contributed to their early recovery. The monitoring process also enabled the organisation to collect feedback directly from the communities, assess beneficiary satisfaction, and identify areas for improvement.

This follow-up activity plays a key role in strengthening transparency and accountability in humanitarian operations.  Through timely support and continued engagement with communities, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society remains committed to standing alongside families as they rebuild their lives after the floods.
