Posted on Monday, May 25th, 2026
A two-day intensive training programme was successfully conducted to strengthen the capacity of local tour leaders representing the Mahakanadarawa and Manankattiya ecotourism groups. The programme focused on enhancing nature interpretation skills and biodiversity knowledge, empowering participants to deliver richer and more meaningful experiences for visitors while promoting sustainable ecotourism practices.
The sessions combined both theoretical learning and practical field exposure, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of local ecosystems, species identification, and effective storytelling techniques in nature-based tourism. The field visit to Katupotha provided valuable hands-on experience, enabling participants to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
This programme was organized by the Managing Together Project, conducted by experienced IUCN experts, and facilitated by SLRCS, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
