Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Strengthens Livelihood Recovery Following the Adverse Impacts of Cyclone Ditwah
The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), with the generous support of the China Merchants Foundation, CMPort, and Hambantota International Port Group (Pvt) Ltd, continues to support the long-term recovery of communities by investing LKR 15.6 million in sustainable livelihood initiatives for selected beneficiaries in the Gampaha and Nuwara Eliya districts.
As part of this initiative, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Gampaha Branch successfully conducted a Business Plan Development Training Programme for selected beneficiaries. The training equipped participants with practical business knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and essential business planning techniques to help transform their ideas into viable and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The programme focused on strengthening participants’ capacity to develop realistic business plans, improve financial decision-making, and enhance the long-term sustainability of their enterprises. By combining financial assistance with capacity building, the initiative enables beneficiaries to build resilient livelihoods, increase household income, and strengthen their ability to withstand future economic challenges.
Through partnerships that invest in both people and skills, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society remains committed to supporting communities on their path to recovery while promoting resilience, self-reliance, and sustainable development.
