Backed by a powerful of approximately 100,000 members and over 6,500 highly trained, active volunteers, we are embedded directly within the communities we serve. When natural disasters, human induced crises, or emergencies strike, our volunteers are the first responders on the ground. Our work goes far more beyond than emergency response. SLRCS design and execute comprehensive development programs that help communities transition from surviving to thriving. Our expertise spans critical modern challenges, including: Climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR), Health care, clean water, and sanitation (WASH) initiatives, social inclusion programs.
Operating under the protected Red Cross emblem, we represent a neutral, independent, and impartial humanitarian assistance recognized by public, private, and local authorities across Sri Lanka. Incorporated under the Royal Charter of 1951 and legally fortified by a Status Agreement with the Government of Sri Lanka, SLRCS operates with rigid transparency and institutional integrity. Governed by the National Headquarters and led by expert management, we ensure that every corporate partnership, international grant, and individual donation is managed responsibly to yield maximum measurable impact.
