Assistant Manager – Health & Nutrition

01 Position

Based in National Headquarters in Colombo

HRM 032/2026

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nutrition, Public Health, Health Sciences, Food Science/Nutrition, Community Medicine, Nursing, or another relevant field from a recognized university.

with

• At least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in health, nutrition, public health, community health, humanitarian programmes, or related development programmes.

• Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, or government health programmes would be an advantage.

 

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Good knowledge of community health and nutrition programmes, including maternal and child health, nutrition education, health promotion and disease prevention.
• Experience in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Knowledge of humanitarian health and nutrition interventions and working with vulnerable communities.
• Good in external and internal coordination relevant to project implementation.
• Excellent public relations, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong language skills in written and verbal communication skills for reporting, advocacy, and public awareness in English and Sinhala/ Tamil.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications.

General Requirements                                                                                                                                                                                                        
• Sound understanding of humanitarian, community, and volunteer-based service interventions.
• Should be a quick learner with the ability of adhering to SLRCS management guidelines and procedures.
• Should be a team player who is self-motivated with the ability of working in challenging circumstances.
• Abide by and work according to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Fundamental Principles.

The SLRCS conducts its general administrative and operational affairs in English Language and the appointment will be on fixed term contract basis. Only short-listed applicants will be called for interviews.
