Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Conducts Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to Assess Cash Assistance Provided to Cyclone Ditwah-Affected Communities

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) conducted Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) activities in Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa to assess the effectiveness and impact of unconditional cash assistance provided to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

Supported by Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA)-trained volunteers from the respective SLRCS branches, the monitoring activities provided an opportunity to hear directly from affected communities and understand their experiences following the distribution of cash assistance.

The PDM focused on key areas including how the assistance was utilized, beneficiaries’ levels of satisfaction, the relevance of the support received, and any challenges encountered during or after the assistance.

Through this process, SLRCS continues to strengthen its commitment to accountability and community engagement by ensuring that the voices and experiences of affected people are heard and considered in humanitarian response and recovery efforts.

SLRCS remains committed to delivering assistance with dignity, transparency and accountability, while continuously learning from communities to improve the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian support.
