Red Cross provides First Aid to All Island Athletic Championship
23/10/2012 : The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Hambantota branch was called upon to provide First Aid to the athletes who took part in the All Island Athletic Championships held at the Beliatta Public Grounds in Hambantota.
The event took place from the 9th – 13th of October where over 5000 athletes from all across Sri Lanka were present for the meet.
The Sports Ministry of Sri Lanka requested the Red Cross to provide these services in coordination with the organizing officials.
During the period 654 competitors who incur minor injuries received first aid from the service.
The Hambantota branch deployed 50 volunteers for the service with 5 First Aid instructors and 20 other personnel who have advance knowledge in First Aid.
