22/10/2012: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Mannar Branch recently conducted a dengue eradication programme to school children under its Integrated Programme for Community Resilience (IPCR).

The eradication and education programme was held at the St. Xavier’s Girls School in Mannar.

Over 140 girls took part in the programme, where they were educated on how to keep their environment clean and how to take measures to prevent dengue.

A shramadana campaign was also held within the school premises to clean up the vicinity and to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds.

School children were also given leaflets and other educational material to educate their households and also the environment they live in.
