Raising awareness on oral health

10/06/2013 – Conducting community awareness activities on areas of public health is a mandatory function of the branch and on 23rd of May 2013 with the participation of the Chilaw MOH office a program on Oral Health was conducted by the branch at Dematapitiya Kanista Vidyalaya at Thambagalla.

A presentation on the oral health was done by the dentist of the MOH office of Chilaw with the demonstration on “Brushing Teeth” using a model which was very effective and attractive. As most in the community of the area are daily workers on coconut estates their participation was very beneficial to them in the case of their family health especially of children.

Also as per the instructions of Hony Branch Chairman, Mr.Charles E. Corea, a relief pack containing a tooth brush, a tube of tooth paste, a towel and a school bag was given to forty primary students of the school form branch stock. MOH of Chilaw Dr.Mrs.Sandya Herath with staff , teachers and the principal and parents participated.

Out come. 

 Community and their children were educated on oral health for better life standard including the initial drive with relief.

 Enhanced the image of Red Cross thereby the branch.

 Community awareness on Red Cross Humanitarian interventions.

 Enhanced relationship with government stake holders.
