Raising awareness on sexually transmitted diseases

07/03/2013 – The Puttalam branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) conducted a workshop for over 60 villagers in Walahena, Chilaw. The community awareness programme was aimed to developing the knowledge of the villagers with regard to HIV/Aids and other STD’s and more importantly how they can safeguard themselves from these types of diseases.

The activity was held at the community centre in the Walahena village, with the participation of two officers from Madampe Divisional Secretariat, two Samurdhi Development Officers, PHI of the area.

Many women in the area are migrant workers hence educating them on STD & HIV is requisition within the area.
