21/02/2018 – Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society recently supported a construction of an entry road and a bund in Shanthalokagama, Kaduwela that would stop the inflow of flood waters and inundating a road. Earlier, during flooding, the waters would seep into the village and the road used earlier and it would completely cut it off from the rest of village, making it difficult for people to get assistance.

As a request from the village, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Colombo Branch and the Disaster Management unit worked closely in identifying the requirement and funding it to be constructed. Over 100 families will benefit from this construction.

Recently the constructed road and bund was vested in the public by the President of Sri Lanka Red Cross Jagath Abeysinghe. Secretary of the Colombo Branch Dr. Amila Kankanamge & the Branch Executive Officer Ms. Kumari Kothalawala was also present during the occasion.
