Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society was and is still at the forefront of COVID-19 relief efforts. Hence, providing medical equipment to uplift the medical sector is a key priority.

Upon the request of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, The Honorable Mahinda Rajapaksa, to the Honorary President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), Mr Jagath Abeysinghe, the latter requested the SLRCS’s sister national societies to support Sri Lanka’s fight against COVID-19.

In turn, and as an initial step, the Singapore Red Cross Society donated medical equipment comprising 100 10-litre oxygen concentrators – valued at approximately LKR 15 million – to the SLRCS. The first consignment was handed over to The Honorable Prime Minister at Temple Trees this afternoon (22-06-2021).

The Honorary President of the SLRCS stated that more medical supplies are due to arrive to the country in the coming weeks, and steps will be taken to hand over the equipment to the health sector immediately. The SLRCS President takes this opportunity to thank the Singapore Red Cross Society and the people of Singapore for their contribution.
