First aid for the traffic police

29/11/2017 – Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Colombo Branch took the initiative to provide traffic police in the Colombo district the training on First Aid in order to assist the public during accidents. The traffic police is usually one of the key personnell on an accident site and has the ability to assist the people affected by the incident.

As per the guidance of the Minister of Law and Order Sagala Rathnayake and the President of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, this initative will ensure that all traffic police within the Colombo division will be trained in first aid.

Addressing the gathering the Senior DIG of Traffic Police Chula De Silva, while commending the Red Cross for partnering with the Police said that this is a vital exercise for the department as this would ensure that the police would be able to provide another additonal service to the public.

The Deputy Director General of Sri Lanka Red Cross Sudath Madugalle, the Secretary of the Colombo Branch Dr. Amila Kankanamge and several other dignitaries were present during the event.

The opening ceremony and the first class on first aid was conducted at the Police Headquarters in Colombo.
