Colombo, June 2025 — UNICEF, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), successfully conducted a national-level consultation workshop under the project “Promoting Disability-Inclusive Humanitarian Action Preparedness in Sri Lanka.”

The workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders and officials from the education and child protection sectors, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), and other agencies working for the welfare of children. The consultation aimed to identify existing barriers and capacity gaps in implementing disability-inclusive approaches within emergency preparedness and response frameworks.

The insights gathered will guide the development of localized training materials and policy recommendations to ensure that future humanitarian responses in Sri Lanka are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of children and persons with disabilities.

This initiative reflects a strong collaborative commitment to building a disaster preparedness system that leaves no one behind, especially in times of crisis.
