The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sri Lanka, the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka, and with the financial support of the Government of Japan, has officially handed over the newly refurbished Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Clinic at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone (EPZ).

This upgraded clinic represents a significant milestone in the delivery of maternal, newborn, sexual and reproductive healthcare services for women employed within the EPZ. In addition to improved infrastructure, the facility now offers enhanced psycho social support, ensuring a more accessible and inclusive approach to healthcare.

The initiative is a vital step in empowering women, girls, pregnant mothers, and youth working in the zone by ensuring that high-quality healthcare is provided in a safe and supportive environment. By prioritizing the health and well-being of its predominantly female workforce, this project recognizes the critical role these individuals play in the national economy.

SLRCS played a key role in the successful implementation and renovation of the clinic, reaffirming its mission to serve vulnerable communities.
