South Asia Dialogue Platform for Anticipatory Action Kicks Off in Colombo
Colombo, Sri Lanka — The South Asia Dialogue Platform (SADP) for Anticipatory Action commenced on September 10, 2024, at the Hilton Colombo, bringing together key regional leaders and stakeholders to enhance disaster preparedness across South Asia. Organized by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society in collaboration with the Disaster Management Division of the Ministry of Defence, International Water Management Institute, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, World Vision, World Food Programme and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, this landmark event marks a significant step in advancing anticipatory action in disaster management.
The platform gathered distinguished guests, including representatives from the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement across South Asia, alongside officials from IFRC Asia Pacific and headquarters. The two-day event is designed to promote proactive disaster response strategies and foster collaboration among regional partners.
Participants engaged in insightful discussions on the first day, sharing experiences and success stories from countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan. The second day of the event is ongoing, with further sessions aimed at refining strategies and promoting innovation in anticipatory action.
