Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Conducts Five-Day Branch Disaster Response Team (BDRT) Training in Anuradhapura
The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), successfully conducted a five-day Branch Disaster Response Team (BDRT) Training Program in Anuradhapura, aimed at strengthening local disaster preparedness and response capacity.
Over 30 volunteers and government officials participated in the intensive program, which combined theoretical learning with practical exercises to enhance participants’ skills in disaster management, emergency response, and community resilience.
Held in the flood-prone Anuradhapura district, the training included guided excursions to vulnerable areas, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in assessing risks, coordinating emergency response, and implementing effective disaster mitigation measures.
This program is part of SLRCS’s ongoing efforts to empower local branches and build resilient communities, ensuring timely and effective responses to natural and man-made disasters across Sri Lanka.
