Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Enhances Community Resilience Through Canal Cleaning Project

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Disaster Relief Emergency Funds (DREF), successfully carried out a Canal Cleaning Project. in the Katana AGA Division, Katuwapitiya GN area.

Led by the Gampaha Branch, this initiative aimed to enhance water flow, reduce flooding risks, and promote a cleaner environment for the local community. The efforts of dedicated Red Cross volunteers, along with strong community support, played a crucial role in the success of the project.

By improving waterways, this initiative strengthens disaster preparedness and contributes to environmental sustainability, reinforcing the Red Cross’s commitment to building safer and more resilient communities.
