The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) conducted a Branch Disaster Response Team (BDRT) training programme for dedicated volunteers of the Mullaitivu Branch, strengthening their capacity to respond effectively to disasters and emergencies.

The training focused on enhancing the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of volunteers to support communities affected by disasters. It provided participants with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of disaster response while improving their ability to work effectively as a coordinated response team.

As part of the programme, participants engaged in practical field exercises designed to provide hands-on experience in disaster response. These activities enabled volunteers to apply their knowledge in realistic situations and further develop their confidence and readiness to respond during emergencies.

The BDRT training is an important step towards strengthening local disaster response capacity in Mullaitivu. By equipping volunteers with the necessary skills and practical experience, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society continues to support communities in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters.
