Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Supports ‘Ride for Blood’ Campaign Led by Passionate Individuals to Promote Voluntary Blood Donation Across the Country
Ride for Blood” – A 6-Day Cycling Journey to Inspire the Nation
In a powerful campaign to inspire voluntary blood donation, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) partnered with a group of dedicated individuals led by Mr. Roshan Perera, a pilot based in the Maldives, on a remarkable cycling journey across the country. The initiative, themed “Ride for Blood”, spanned six days, from May 11th to May 16th covering the route from Negombo to Jaffna and back.
This inspiring journey was designed to raise awareness on the importance of regular blood donation and to encourage more Sri Lankans to become regular blood donors. The cyclists were warmly welcomed and supported along the way by SLRCS branches in Gampaha, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Mannar, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, and Kurunegala, who stood in solidarity with the cause.
Flying Red Cross flags and carrying the message that every drop counts, the campaign united communities and volunteers in a common mission: to save lives through the gift of blood.
The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society sincerely appreciates the dedication of all those involved and remains committed to promoting the culture of voluntary blood donation throughout the country.
