The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), together with the Disaster Management Centre and UNFPA Sri Lanka, and with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), successfully hosted a National Dialogue on Anticipatory Action, focusing on the integration of protection and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) within the Sri Lankan context.
The dialogue aimed to strengthen disaster preparedness and response systems by fostering a comprehensive understanding of anticipatory action. It provided a platform for stakeholders to reflect on lessons learned and to identify critical gaps observed in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.
Bringing together representatives from government, humanitarian, and development sectors, the dialogue emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination, timely interventions, and inclusive approaches. The outcomes are expected to contribute towards more effective and responsive systems that safeguard the dignity, health, and wellbeing of women and girls at all stages of humanitarian action.
