Established in 1936, we’ve been a beacon of hope and assistance for communities across Sri Lanka. Formerly known as the Ceylon Red Cross Society, we’ve been proudly serving under various names, but our commitment remains steadfast.
Recognized internationally by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and admitted into the League of Red Cross Societies in 1952, our journey has been one of dedication and service. Renamed as the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society in 1972, we’ve continued to evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs of our nation.
With a strong foundation laid by a Royal Charter in 1951 and further recognition as a charitable organization by the Finance Ministry, our roots run deep in humanitarian values.
In 2002, we embraced a new constitution and organizational changes, reflecting our commitment to progress and efficiency. Our National Headquarters boasts a dedicated core management team led by the Director General. Supported by seven “Focal Points” overseeing key areas such as Disaster Management, Health, and Finance, our programs are executed with precision and care.
