Cleaning the coast for a better environment #2015Cleanup

21/09/2015 – Kalutara & Mullativu, Sri Lanka: Coast conservation Authority and the District Secretary’s Office of Kalutara organized a coastal belt cleaning program behalf of International Coastal Cleaning Day which fell on the 19th of September 2015.

This cleaning  program was conducted in  Aluthgama, Kalutara to Panadura along the Kalutara district coastal belt.

There were over 4000 members from the community participated in this program with several stakeholders including the members of the District Secretariat, Coast Conservation Authority, Three Armed Forces ,Civil Defense, Sri Lanka Police, Pasdunrata Educational College , Prison, and volunteers and members of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kalutara Branch…

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kalutara Branch also conducted major first aid service  during this program. There are over 70 first aid volunteers who took part in this service.

Meanwhile our volunteers and members from the Mullativu branch also engaged in an exercise to clean up the Mullativu beach in northern Sri Lanka.

It was organized in collaboration with Marine Environment Protection Authority and District Secretariat with the support of Military, police, students, and other department.
