A Volunteer Appreciation Programme by Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Badulla Branch

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Badulla Branch hosted a momentous occasion on February 4, 2024, a Volunteer Appreciation Programme. The day was of celebration, gratitude, and recognition for those who embody the spirit of selflessness and service. Volunteers across the district gathered to be honoured and celebrated for their tireless dedication. These individuals’ actions spoke volumes about the power of humanitarianism. 

The event was graced by esteemed guests, which included the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Vice President; Mr. Jagath Abeysinghe, Chairman of the Galle Branch; Mr. Upali Sirimanne, Chairman of the Badulla Branch; Mr. Ranjith Liyanage, Secretary of the Badulla Branch; Ms. M.A.D. Subadra and Directress; Ms. Kumari Kotalawela, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the invaluable contributions of volunteers to society. 

The special guests’ voices were resonating with pride and admiration. Speaking of the unwavering commitment of volunteers, their willingness to sacrifice time and energy for the betterment of the people and the impact they created on the lives of countless individuals. They further emphasised that volunteers are not merely individuals who offer their services for free, but guardians of hope, compassion and resilience.

Amidst applause and cheers, volunteers were presented with certificates, tokens of gratitude for their invaluable service.  Throughout the programme, stories of courage and kindness emerged, tales of volunteers braving adversity, extending a helping hand to those in need, and embodying the ethos of humanity.
