On December 19, 2024, a multi-day trawler carrying 103 Rohingya refugees drifted towards Mullivaikal, Mullaitivu, in search of refuge.

In response to a request from the Department of Immigration & Emigration, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society with International Committee of the Red Cross provided critical non-food items such as sanitary products, hygiene kits, baby essentials, and bedding to support the immediate needs of the refugees. Additionally, first aid kits and cleaning supplies were included to ensure a safe and healthy environment for these vulnerable individuals.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society continues to uphold its commitment to humanity, extending help to those in distress.
